You’re probably here looking for…

Club Favorites

Just to show you that this website is the most bestest bestest website ever, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite websites, so you can see that they pale in comparison to the evident glory that is Club Deportivo. Okay, we’ll stop the gushing. Procrastination value: 15 minutes.

Back Home

This year’s Zapatistas and their hometowns on a big, whiz-bang, clickable-draggable map. Procrastination value: 1 hour. (The satellite view is a little addicting…)

Moving on

Sadly, the school year ended three or so months ago, so it’s time for me to hand the baton to Casa Zapata’s new website crew, headed by Ram Guerra. I’ve basically copied this site’s design and structure over to the new site, in case Ram feels like using it. So long, and thanks for all the fish Grullense tacos

Draw got you down?

Got priority but didn’t get in the dorm? There’s now a Facebook group for your very situation. Not sure what we’re going to use it for, though…

La mapa

The muy atento among you will have already noticed that the map is now la mapa. This week, Google expanded Google Maps to include all of Spain and introduced an option to use the service in Spanish, so I decided to slip a little of that into this website.

Oh, and I’ve bumped the map’s “procrastination value” up to a full hour, since the “Híbrido” mode is that much cooler now, with its new coverage of Europe.

Thoughts?

So first of all, congratulations on taking the initiative to actually find out what we have on our website, admits. We know, we know, it’s in a bit of a sorry state, but this sidejob called “school” really takes up a lot of time…

Now, being the good students that we all are, we didn’t realize that tomorrow was already Sunday, and that all you admits were going your separate ways in the morning. It’s so soon! I mean, we wanted to tell you all about Primal Scream and our dorm’s “José” episode, and our personal encounters with the Tree, and about all the episodes of Desperate Housewives that the first floor watched obsessively a few weeks ago.

But there just isn’t time for all that.

We know that, despite Andy’s insane (and obviously unhealthy) efforts at entertaining all of you, there are some things that you might’ve hoped to find out about us, about our dorm, or about our school. Or about Aton’s poofy hair. Just post a (public) comment in response to this entry, and we’ll try our best to answer in an intelligible manner. (And if we can’t, we’ll just respond in Catalan.)

We’ll really miss you guys, but we hope that – as someone quite beautifully pointed out in the hall the other day – all of you are just going home for summer break: you’ll be back in the fall, we trust.

Boring Weekly

So some people have been accusing Waaahhh!!! Weekly of not being a real Zapata news publication. That’s like accusing Ashlee Simpson of not being a real singer, it’s not like she doesn’t know already (at least we hope not). Our goal has always been to make light of certain things (or certain ETAs) in Zapata. Nevertheless, we do love our Zapatistas, even if we love making fun of them more, and so we have decided to create an additional publication – aptly titled “Boring Weekly” – that is a pure, unadulterated recitation of the house notes. It’s boring, but that’s the idea. Happy reading.

Sensually Yours,
Juan and Jon, Editors-in-Chief, Boring Weekly AND Waaahhh!!! Weekly
